Made in Mexico

First of all. Fun fact. I have three Spring Decorations.

Three.

I've never seen myself as much of a Nick-Knack person.... but since we moved I seem to get a thrill from seasonally decorating my house.

Something about my rebellious-anti-house-wife-mind must have died when we moved. Or when I got pregnant with my third child and basically gave up on any kind of successful career.

But here am I at my house, waiting to pick up Stella from Pre-School worrying about only having three Spring Decorations.

Somethings wrong with me.

And two of the three are specifically Easter Decorations and so they can only last so long.

Although, maybe since Easter is so late this year, afterwords I can take those down and move on to Summer.

Oy. It seems ridiculous anyways.

But I just thought I would share. Fall and Winter were such successful decorative seasons for me, I kind of feel like a disappointment right now.

Better schedule in a trip to Hobby Lobby.

Better wait for the 50% off adds.

Also, speaking of this time of year. Lent that is. And even though The Southern Baptist Convention doesn't observe the holiday. I do.

I think its a fantastic practice to give up something that you spend your time focusing on and see how better to fill your time.

Plus, I both love going to Fish Fries, and Zach makes an amazing fried fish at home for Friday nights!

Anyways, I haven't mentioned it until now because this year I picked a really, really, really hard one for me to give up. I mean, it wouldn't be hard for everybody, but for me it is hard!

Last year I gave up Celebrity Gossip. Which at the time, I was spending WAYYYY too much time involved in. A normal person should not care about the lives of people they don't even know.

It was irritating. But I was obsessed.

I gave it up and haven't looked back.

Once in a while, I'll watch a news clip or whatever. I watched an interview with Charlie Sheen with Zach but that was mainly for Current Events Purposes.

Winning!!

Haha.

So, I am hoping for the same results this year.

Soda.

I gave up soda.

Agh!

What was I thinking? I don't know. But at the very least these forty days I can't have any!

And so far I haven't even cheated.

Ok, I may technically be obsessed with Iced Tea now instead. But its way better for you, so I am giving myself a break.

It's like Methadone for a drug addict.

Baby Steps.

So for the last few blogs I have been obsessed kind of with myself. I know, its awful. But, truthfully, it just hasn't been the blogs, its been my life. With this book out there, I am constantly either worrying or working on the book. Its literally become this fourth child in our house.

Even Zach gets in on it.

And for one of the sights I've uploaded it to, called Smashwords, I had to come up with an Author Bio.

I feel ridiculous. And actually the picture I have up is horrific. Bleh.

And I'm not just saying that because in general I'm not a photogenic person. It actually is awful.

But anyways I did this Top 5 List of things I'm obsessed with.

And it was actually very therapeutic for me because it got me to stop thinking about myself. Like literally myself. And focus on other things that I am enjoying right now.

Because believe it or not, I am working/doing/thinking/involving in other things.

Every once in a while, I break out of the bubble known as the Complete Absorption of Self and look around.

So, I'm copying the idea here and expanding. And I'm going to share with you the Top 10 Things I'm Obsessed With Right Now:

1. My Keurig Coffee Machine. It's Genius. Literally Genius. It is that perfect cup of coffee first thing in the morning and I don't think I could survive without it. Plus it makes it so easy. Ah. Love the convenience.

2. 90's Music. Oh man. You know I'm a huge fan of the 90's. But ever since I found this CD that Zach burned for me when we were in high school, I suddenly can't get enough. This is a dream CD. We've got gems like The Crannberries(My all time favorite band.), Third Eye Blind, Celine Dione(Good 90's stuff, but don't worry, My Heart Will Go On is definitely not on the playlist.), and Semisonic. Zach knew me perfectly even back then.

You don't have to go home, but you Can't. Stay. Here.

3. Chocolate Smelling Body Wash. Sounds crazy? But really it is heaven! I got it for my birthday from my in-laws and truthfully, I don't think I would have EVER bought it on my own. But seriously, who doesn't want to smell like a bakery? I feel like I'm in the spa every time I use it. Now I just need a lotion to match because what I have going on now is not so pretty!

4. E-Readers of course. I mean, obviously now that I have a book out that is only E-Reader capable, I am pushing them. But even if I didn't have one, I still would love them. So easy. So convenient. So cheap. I mean, not the device part, but the books available on it. Kindle's my fave, but there are sooo many options out there. And I just think how the technology is going to effect like text books. Seriously. Think how expensive Text Books are, and how affordable they could be thanks to your pocket size genius of an invention!

5. Bubble Bust. Its an App for my iPhone and it is probably the sweetest game ever. I like it way better than angry birds and for those 30 minutes I'm nursing every hour and a half I'm really getting good at it!

6. Spring. We have Spring Fever and we have it bad! As soon as the temperature is over 50 degrees I have at least two windows open. The kids are pushed outside every chance I get. And I LOVE driving with the windows down. Oh thank God we are out of the death known as winter. I can't take the bleary-dreariness anymore! I need some fresh flowers and green grass in my very near future. And nothing. Nothing is better than looking out your window at 6:30 PM and still seeing daylight!!! It was even still light out when the kids went to bed last night! Hallelujah!

7. Iced Tea. I said it before. I'll say it again. Methadone for an addict.

8. Justified. By far, the best show on TV. Love it. And I kind of love Timothy Olyphant. Kind of can't get enough of him. I love a good TV Drama. And the ones that usually get the awards are the HBO and Showtime ones, but let me just say both Zach and I cannot watch those. They are so dark and depressing. Ugh. After a while, you just feel drained. Like, how many more awful things can happen, or when is there ever just a happy ending? In fact, I think FX is my new fave spot for all the best shows. But Justified is better than all that's out there. Period.

9. Getting rid of the Processed Foods from our lives. From Chicken Fingers that Zach makes from scratch now to homemade pizza, even homemade french fries, I am cleansing us from the nastiness that is heart disease and juvenile diabetes. Save for my Kraft Mac and Cheese. I can't give it up yet. Although we do make an amazing version of homemade mac and cheese, still nothing beats how easy and delicious it is! Plus, I bought I huge thing of it from Costco, so I am kind of stuck with it for now!

10. And finally. Price Matching. You already know I'm cheap. And nothing. Nothing is better than getting the Best deal.

  1. I think I am obsessed with price matching too, I love it! Courtney will even say, "Mom, the ads are here, do you want me to go get them for you?" Teaching her young!
    Speaking of price matching, I have my grocery list and price matches all ready to go-whenever I can sneak off for an hour or two to go to wal-mart.
    Ps What recipe do you use for homemade mac n cheese? I really need to get Courtney off of Pasta Roni!

  2. * 1/2 pound elbow macaroni
    * 4 tablespoons butter
    * 2 eggs
    * 6 ounces evaporated milk
    * 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
    * 1 teaspoon kosher salt
    * Fresh black pepper
    * 3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
    * 10 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded

    Directions

    In a large pot of boiling, salted water cook the pasta to al dente and drain. Return to the pot and melt in the butter. Toss to coat.

    Whisk together the eggs, milk, hot sauce, salt, pepper, and mustard. Stir into the pasta and add the cheese. Over low heat continue to stir for 3 minutes or until creamy.

    This is the recipe that we love! It's Alton Brown from the Food Network, but its super easy, and we change up the cheese and use, or leave out the hot sauce depending on who's eating it!

    I am the same way with my list, and ads! Just get it ready so as soon as I can get to the store I have everything ready!
